The Winds of War
Wars don’t just break out. There is always a chain of events and incidents full of intrigues that are behind them. The Ottoman Empire in its imperialist Jihad, had occupied the territory of Bosnia Herzegovina, since 1878. The deer, birds and other animals of the region’s old forests and fields were to enjoy a generation of peace and quiet, of serenity. Then in 1908 the Austro-Hungarian Empire started whetting its expansionist appetite. It officially annexed the territory precipitating a regional crisis which kept high tension in the Bosnian region till 1909. The soft country breezes were soon to be replaced by the violent deadly whipping winds of war.
This annexation greatly angered the Pan-Slavic and thus pro-Serbian Romanov Dynasty who at the time ruled the Kingdom of Serbia, and Bosnia Herzegovina, in addition to Russia, due to their having a very considerable Slavic Serbian population. As the wise King Solomon said millennia ago, “There’s nothing new under the sun.” Then as now, in regions near or far from home, Russian political maneuvering in the region destabilized peace accords. In this case, they were accords that were already fracturing in what was known as "the Powder keg of Europe".
The once great Ottoman Empire was already tottering. This fact along with Russia’s manipulations tempted the Balkan states to flex their muscles and fight for independence.
Thus began the First Balkan War which lasted from 1912 through 1913. This war was fought between the Balkan League and the tottering Ottoman Empire. It ended with the Treaty of London which shrank the collapsing Ottoman Empire even further, by creating an independent Albanian State while enlarging the territorial holdings of Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece.
Having tasted the heady mead of the spoils of victory, Bulgaria initiated the Second Balkan War by attacking both of her former allies, Serbia and Greece on 16th of June 1913. However within 33 days of heated battle, instead of gaining land, it humiliatingly lost most of Macedonia to Serbia and Greece and Southern Dobruja to Romania. Thus even further destabilizing the region.
As you can well guess tempers, plots and revenge plans were running wild. The Austro-Hungarian Empire’s lust for territory and control was growing. Their scheming and underhanded modus operandi was far from appreciated by their neighboring nations.
"The Powder keg of Europe" was approaching critical stage. The slightest spark could by now set it off. That spark was soon to come, in Sarajevo the capitol of Bosnia.
On a warm summer’s day at the end of June 1914, a Bosnian-Serb student and member of “Young Bosnia”, named Gavrilo Princip assassinated the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Although the prince was very far from being popular even at home, his assassination began a period of hectic high tension diplomatic maneuvering between Austro-Hungary, Germany, Russia, France and Britain called the July Crisis. Austro-Hungary sought to end Serbian interference in Bosnia once and for all; therefore they delivered what became known as ‘The July Ultimatum’ to Serbia.
This ultimatum was a series of ten demands which were deliberately designed to be unacceptable. It was made with the full intention of deliberately initiating a war with Serbia. When Serbia acceded to only eight of the ten demands which the ultimatum placed against it, Austro-Hungary declared war on Serbia on 28 July 1914, precisely one month after the assassination of the misanthrope archduke.
Even had Serbia acquiesced quickly to the entire ultimatum it would not have made any difference. The entire episode was merely a thinly disguised excuse to justify declaration of war on Serbia. The empire would have quickly found or manufactured some other excuse to attack.
By then the summer weather was not the only thing that was heating up. The equally ravenous Czarist Russian Empire, surely would not to permit Austro–Hungary to erase its influence in the Balkans. Therefore in support of its long time Serb protégés, Russia quickly ordered a partial mobilization. Within twenty four hours of Russia’s entry into the fray, Bismark’s German Empire began to mobilize its armies as well.
France, still harboring great animosity over the German conquest of Alsace-Lorraine during the Franco-Prussian War, was already straining at the reins for any excuse to attack Germany. Despite having never won any war except for the French revolution, France mobilized their armed forces on the 1st of August.
Germany declared war on Russia on the same day. Two days later, on the 3rd of August 1914, the United Kingdom declared war on Germany.
With the political chain reaction set loose, within a week of Austro-Hungary’s preplanned declaration of war on Serbia, Russia and most of Europe were at war.
“The European Powder Keg” had blown. World War I, the so-called “War to End All Wars”, had begun. It lasted four years, to 1918.
On the Eastern front, the Russian army successfully fought against the Austro-Hungarian forces but was forced back by the larger and better organized German army. However the Germans' assault into Russia was no match for famous, or should we say infamous, Russian winter. The modern German army was stopped by the very “secret weapon” which halted the assault of the German Templar army on Russia in the famed “Battle on the Ice” a few centuries before. The Ottoman Empire joined the war later that same year, Italy in 1915 and Romania in 1916.
July 1 1916 the Battle of the Somme began. It was the first battle ever using tanks.
March 15 1917 Russian Czar Nicholas II abdicated. The United States entered the fray by declaring war on Germany on April 6. Seven months later the Bolsheviks successfully overthrew the Russian government. Under their rule Russia, which had been instrumental in the chain of events that led to the war, left it in December 1917. You might say that Russia did what children term “Let’s you and him fight”.
After the March 1918 German "Spring Offensive" along the western front, America with its well organized, well armed, fresh forces inspired by their classic motto “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition” led the driving back of the German armies in a series of successful allied offensives. Germany surrendered eight months later.
One of the unsung and forgotten heroes of that war was Layish Nahmanijas, a descendant of that son of the Ramba”n who had gone to Serbia as a result of the Spanish Expulsion. Despite being a Jew he quickly rose to officer’s rank. This was due both to his amazing personal prowess, as a master in hand to hand combat sword fighting and rifle marksman on the battlefield, and to his strategic genius.
By the time war had ended, four major powerful empires, Germany, Russia, Austro-Hungary and Ottoman, had been militarily and politically defeated. The latter two ceased to exist as either empires or as being a major power. However, Austria was still to make its painful influence felt upon the world as mankind was only too sorrowfully to discover.
Germany was defeated, trounced by the Allies. Its great empirical pride crushed, humiliated and mortified. Its high position as an economic power was thoroughly humiliated as well. The once proud and powerful Second Reich had become a mortified pitiful page in history. This irked the Germans' Teutonic pride too much to be kept quiet for long. Nationalist and racist movements were soon to become established.
In their loyalty to their country, the Jewish merchants of Germany sought to rebuild its trade and economic stand. Their keen understanding of business and of the trade winds led them to recommend, and to heavily invest in, the construction of what would become the best railway system in all of Europe. Well designed and well built locomotives, one of which set a new world speed record, were built literally by the thousands. An intricate far reaching system of railways was laid down, with a well systemized method of keeping track of which trains went where when & with what loads.
The Jewish merchants’ plans succeeded wonderfully. The German railway system flourished, empowering Germany. Yet this success by the Jewish merchants would later become a horrendous bane to their own people.
While Mother Nature was healing and repopulating her scorched fields and forests, and the battle scarred countries were rebuilding their battered cities and towns, that bloodthirsty voracious beast – the temporarily quelled storm-wind of war was also again rebuilding. This time not waiting even a full generation till it started its ravenous devouring again.
Austria’s imperialist lust was also crushed by the World War which it had purposely instigated. Who could assume that less than a generation later, a little insignificant miserable miscreant from that very same small country in south-central Europe would manage to influence and manipulate the much larger Germany into a maniacal delusional dream of world conquest? Yet it was a lunatic dream sprouted from the warped minds of two Austrians, that would plunge the world into the most demonic, murderous, destructive and cruelest war in human history, World War 2.
Indeed those two power-mad Austrians were to make their maniacal effect felt in the world.
One, Rudolf Steiner, a renegade outcast from the Theosophist sect set up his own cult, Anthroposophy, based on the concepts of his racist idol Goethe, with an admixture of Theosophy and far eastern cults.
His cult was to become a major inspiration for the concepts of racial cast levels, “Aryan supremacy” the “ubermensch”-super race, which he claimed had right and responsibility to take power and control of the entire world, the precursor of the concept called today “The New World Order” with all other races having to be subservient to this “supreme race”. His influence would be even further felt as a result of his own words in his lecture number 39, “The Essence of the Jews”, that “… the Jews are a race whose time of usefulness to mankind has finished and it would be best if they were to disappear from the earth.”
That evil racist idea was to become the life goal of the second infamous mad Austrian. He was Adolf Schicklgruber who grew up inspired by Steiner. He was the illegitimate son of Alois Hiedler. Luckless in Austria he sought to better his situation in neighboring Germany. There too to realize his dream of world conquest for the ideal of his equally mad idol, Steiner. A German Immigration Office clerk simplified his family name to - Hitler.
In Germany he strove to make himself “more German than the Germans”.
His name, in his lifetime, and to this day still, was to become a world symbol of The Axis of Evil, of terror, of blind insane bloodthirsty genocidal murderous hate, of the hand of the angel of death to amass hundreds of millions of corpses across the planet.
